Uniting Strengths for a New Journey, Working Diligently to Write a New Chapter — School of Humanities Holds All-Faculty Meeting

Hard work brings an early spring, and now is the time to forge ahead. To fully arrange the work tasks for the new semester, unify thinking, build consensus, and boost morale, the School of Humanities held a general meeting of all faculty and staff for the 2026 spring semester on the afternoon of March 3 in Conference Room B230 of the Humanities Building.

The meeting thoroughly conveyed and studied the spirit of the university’s work deployment meeting for the new semester, and systematically planned the key annual development tasks of the school. Members of the college’s party and government leading bodies and all faculty and staff attended the meeting, which was presided over by Han Dong, Vice Dean in charge of work.

First, the meeting launched a collective study session of the "First Class of the New Semester" on teachers' ethics and conduct. Participants watched the video Great Masters: Biographies of Distinguished Chinese Educators · Wei Xinghua and received warning education on teachers' ethics.

Afterwards, Han Dong, Vice Dean in charge of work, conveyed the university’s work arrangements for the new semester, focusing on interpreting the overall requirements of the university’s 15th Five-Year Development Plan and the series of activities for its 105th anniversary.

Centering on the college’s core tasks, he made comprehensive arrangements and mobilization for key work including the development of teachers’ ethics and conduct, revision of the talent training plan for the new semester, routine teaching operation and management, application for high-level research projects such as the National Social Science Fund, construction of the faculty talent echelon, advancement of teaching competitions and education reform projects, and classified management of teachers.

He encouraged all faculty members to take the initiative and strive for excellence, continuously improve their teaching and research capabilities and core competitiveness, and achieve new breakthroughs at a new starting point.

Later, Vice Dean Liu Xiaochuan of the college delivered a special interpretation on the 2026 edition of the undergraduate talent training program.

Focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, Liu Xiaochuan systematically explained the revision ideas, training objectives, graduation requirements and curriculum system of the new edition in light of the university’s arrangements and the college’s reality.

He emphasized the student-centered, outcome-based and continuous improvement philosophy, optimized practical teaching and innovative modules, aligned with industry demands and the development of new quality productive forces, so as to comprehensively improve the quality of talent cultivation.

Other college leaders in charge made specific arrangements for teaching and research, student affairs, administrative management and other work in accordance with their respective fields.

Departments held special seminars on the development of teachers' ethics and conduct respectively, to further deepen academic understanding, build consensus on education and clarify work directions.

Finally, Wang Shujun, Secretary of the College Party Committee, delivered a concluding speech.

She stressed that all faculty and staff should closely follow the general requirement of "striving with dedication and tackling tough issues", base themselves on the college's humanities characteristics and disciplinary strengths, and focus on six core tasks:

First, uphold the bottom line of safe education, ensure student safety and stability, deliver the first class of the semester, and sustain long-term development of teachers' ethics and conduct.

Second, implement the requirements for classified management of teachers, improve the assessment, evaluation and development support mechanisms, and stimulate the internal motivation of the faculty team.

Third, strengthen communication between teachers and students, actively spread positive energy, and guide teachers and students to maintain an uplifting, positive and healthy mindset.

Fourth, concentrate efforts on securing research projects, educational reform topics and talent program applications, striving for new progress.

Fifth, provide targeted guidance and services for graduate employment, and fully promote high-quality and full employment.

Sixth, consolidate and expand the achievements of 2025, deepen the cultivation of teaching achievement awards and the pursuit of graduate academic accomplishments, so as to elevate the college’s development to a new level.

She urged the entire college to coordinate the construction of a safe and harmonious college, and contribute humanities wisdom and strength to the sound start of the university’s 15th Five-Year Plan through solid work and tangible results.

With clear goals, definite tasks and strong deployment, this conference was a mobilizing gathering that unites hearts, seeks common development and inspires enthusiasm.

In the new year, all faculty and staff of the School of Humanities will take this meeting as an opportunity to forge ahead with fuller enthusiasm, higher morale and a more pragmatic work style. Through persistent and solid efforts, they will strive to promote the high-quality development of all the college’s undertakings and write a new chapter for the development of both the college and the university.
