School of Humanities Holds "Reunion on Double Ninth, Passing the Torch in Humanities" Symposium

On October 28, 2025, the School of Humanities held the "Reunion on Double Ninth, Passing the Torch in Humanities" Double Ninth Festival symposium. Nearly forty retired veteran teachers gathered together to reminisce about memorable years and envision a new chapter of development. Liu Jianguang, Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department; Xu Qiuzhen, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanchang University and Professor of the History Department; Zou Jinliang, Director of the Library and Professor of the History Department; and Ye Qinghua, Director of the University Retirement Office attended the event. Wang Shujun, Party Secretary of the School of Humanities, presided over the symposium.

Liu Jianguang, Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department, extended festive greetings to the retired teachers and expressed high respect for their contributions to the university's development. He pointed out that senior colleagues are witnesses, contributors, and participants in the university's construction and growth. The achievements of the university today are built upon the hard work and selfless dedication of generations of educators. The university will continue to care for the well-being and health of its retired members, providing thoughtful services and support with genuine dedication. He also sincerely wished all veteran teachers good health and longevity, hoping they would often think of their alma mater, return for visits, and jointly discuss new plans for development.

During the symposium, several octogenarian retired teachers—Liu Jingcheng, Liu Mianyu, Duan Ruihua, Zhang Yusheng, and Zhang Dejing—delivered speeches in turn. They fondly looked back on decades of teaching, sharing precious memories of educating students and dedicating themselves to teaching at Nanchang University. Each story was filled with passion and commitment to education. Speaking of the university's current vigorous development, the veteran teachers' eyes were full of gratification and pride. "Though we have left the podium, we have not left education; though retired, we still care deeply about Nanchang University," they emotionally expressed, stating that their hearts always beat in rhythm with their alma mater. They earnestly hope that Nanchang University will achieve new accomplishments on its new journey and that the School of Humanities will continue its legacy and compose new brilliant chapters.

Subsequently, freshmen of the Class of 2025 from the School of Humanities, holding vibrant red scarves, respectfully presented them to the veteran teachers one by one, expressing deep reverence. The red scarves complemented the smiles of the veteran teachers, symbolizing the transmission of the spiritual legacy of Nanchang University.

Reunion on Double Ninth, passing the torch in humanities. The School of Humanities has always regarded retired veteran teachers as invaluable assets and the foundation of the school's development. This Double Ninth Festival event was not only a warm and heartfelt gathering but also a profound transmission of humanistic spirit and culture. It inspires all current faculty to follow the example of the older generation, continue striving, and forge ahead, jointly contributing to the development of education at Nanchang University.

Before the meeting, the retired veteran teachers, accompanied by members of the School of Humanities leadership team, visited the school's "Humanities Masters" cultural corridor, Party building culture wall, alumni wall, and other exhibits.
