Jiang Mayi

Jiang Mayi, male, Han ethnicity, born in August 1973 in Yugan, Jiangxi Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China. He began working at the university in July 2002. He holds a Ph.D. in Literature from Renmin University of China and was a recipient of a government-funded visiting scholarship at Stanford University, USA. Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at the School of Humanities, Nanchang University, and a doctoral supervisor in the field of literary theory. He was named a Ministry of Education Course-based Ideological and Political Teaching Excellence Instructor in 2021. He serves as the leader of the nationally recognized first-class undergraduate program in Chinese Language and Literature and the person in charge of the national first-class course "Literary Theory." He also holds concurrent roles including board member of the China Comparative Literature and Literary Theory Society, Vice Chairman of the Jiangxi Literary Critics Association, and Vice President of the Jiangxi Literary and Art Society.

Undergraduate: Literary Theory, Aesthetics, Marxist Literary Theory, Introduction to Art, etc.


Master's: Fundamentals of Literary Theory, Special Topics in Literary Theory, Frontiers in Literary Studies


Doctoral: Theory of Comparative Literature as a Discipline, Literary Ethics



Major Academic Achievements and Awards:


He has led and completed 10 research projects, including a key National Social Science Fund project titled “Compilation and Research of Modern (1900–1949) Chinese Children's Literary Works” (Project No. 22AZD153), and a youth project titled “The Theory of Otherness and the Study of Literary Alterity” (Project No. 12CZW007).


He has published 10 representative monographs, including The Theory of Otherness and the Study of Literary Alterity, and has authored 15 core journal articles, such as “An Analysis of Levinas’s Idea of the ‘Ethical Other.’”


His accolades include:


Second Prize, Ninth Ministry of Education Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research (Humanities and Social Sciences), 2024


First Prize, 19th Jiangxi Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, 2021


First Prize, Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, 2023


Altogether, he has received six awards.
